WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT PRAYER

Matthew 7:7 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."

Luke 18:1 "Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up."

John 16:24 "Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive and your joy will be complete."

I Thessalonians 5:17 "pray continually;"

Promises of Answers to Prayer

Isaiah 58:9 "Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I."

Matthew 21:22 "If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."

Luke 11:9 -10 "So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."

True Prayer is Heard by God

Psalm 18:6 "In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears."

Psalm 34:17 "The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles."

I Peter 3:12 "For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, ...."

There are Conditions for Prayer to be Answered

These include repentance (admitting we have done wrong), honesty, and obedience to what God shows us to do.

II Chronicles 7:14 "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Jeremiah 29:13 "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."

I John 3:22 "..(we) receive from him anything we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him."

How Do We Pray?

Hosea 14:2 "Take words with you and return to the Lord. Say to him: Forgive all our sins and receive us graciously...."

Simply speak to the Lord as you would to a close friend. He understands. Talk with Him, sharing your feelings and thoughts. You do not have to use religious phrases or say things that you think God might like to hear.

The Power of Agreement in Prayer

Matthew 18:19 -20 "Again I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."

On this promise by the Lord Jesus, we now agree with you in prayer: "Lord God, I now come to you with words. Forgive me of my sins. Cleanse me by the blood which Jesus shed for me on the cross. I ask you to help me in the situation I now find myself in, and I agree in prayer with those at The Answer, that YOU will provide help for me. Thank you for answering this prayer. Thank you for forgiving me. I pray this in Jesus name. Amen."
